1. What does Disney do in the Nordics?
Disney Nordic is part of the global media and entertainment group The Walt Disney Company. The Nordic business acts as the local representative for all of the company’s global business units and spans distribution of studio content in theatres, home entertainment and TV, program sales from ABC Studios, distribution of the Disney TV-channels, media sales, consumer products licensing, games retail distribution and the Disney Store business, as well as support for Disneyland Paris. The Nordic Disney unit also manages the local marketing efforts.
2. How many people work for Disney in the Nordics?
There is currently about 200 people working for Disney in the Nordics. The company has offices in Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki and Copenhagen.
3. When did Disney establish its business in the Nordics?
Disney’s first product launch in the Nordics was a Mickey Mouse book series published in Denmark in the early 1930s. In 1948, came the Donald Duck magazine through the local media house Egmont Publishing. The magazine became a huge success, even today remaining key to the local business and brand affinity. In the 1960s, Disney established its first permanent business representation in the Nordics to serve the growing product licensing market. In 1992, Disney opened its first wholly-owned Nordic office in Stockholm to manage the distribution of studio content in theatres and for the home, which until then had been managed through local agents. The first Disney TV-channel launched in the Nordics in 2003, it was Disney Channel, which was followed by Disney Junior and Disney XD in the years thereafter. The first Nordic Disney Store launched in 2010 in Copenhagen, Denmark, followed by the Danish and Swedish online stores in 2013. Disneymedia+, which is the unit that manages media sales and promotions was introduced in 2012 in the Nordics.
In the end of 2009, all Nordic Disney business units were collected under one brand and one Nordic leadership – which today oversees the work within all Disney’s global business units – Studio & LIVE Entertainment, Media Networks, Parks & Resorts, Consumer Products and Disney Interactive – across the Nordic region, the Baltics and the Faroe Islands.
4. I would like to work for Disney or be part of a Disney-production – how do I go about submitting my application?

The job opportunities within Disney Nordic are primarily within sales and marketing. 5. How can I learn about when a specific title will premiere in my local cinema or on DVD/Blu-ray?

6. Where can I learn more about the Disney TV-channels?
Disney offers three TV-channels in the Nordics; Disney Junior, which is fun content that encourages basic knowledge for the youngest audience and their parents, Disney XD which is focused on action and humor – a lot of the programing is animated – and Disney Channel, which is a family oriented channel with anything from tweens series to classic Disney animation. The schedules can be found on each of the local channel web sites.
7. I represent a group that would like to setup a stage show featuring the Disney’s brand and/or characters, how do we go about to do that?
Depending on the type of show you are interested in, the process varies.
Music performances; As a general rule, anyone can freely interpret a music piece that has been publically performed so long it is reported to the appropriate local performing right society – in Norway it is Tono. In this type of performance and context, unless agreed with Disney, there can be no referral to Disney, or its copyrighted properties either on stage or in any marketing, this includes copyright protected Disney visuals and brands. Approval is typically given only to established Disney partners.
Disney stage shows; As a general rule, no use of the Disney brand or its properties is allowed for commercial stage shows unless approved by Disney. Producers looking to apply for setting up a stage show based on a specific Disney property can find the available shows on www.josef-weinberger.com/ The site also holds information on the application process.
8. I have a business idea which includes use of the Disney brand/characters, where do I turn for more information about how to pursue this?
Use of our brand and/or characters for commercial purposes requires a contract with Disney (i.e. a product license agreement) for the intended product and market. The contract will specify the commercial details and the framework for the manufacturing.
Anyone interested in applying for a product license needs to submit an overview of the project/plans and the business/organization to TWDC.Nordic.email@example.com The Nordic merchandise licensing team will then come back on how to proceed. Whether a license can be issued or not depends on multiple factors, including producer features/qualities, the intended plans and the current competitor context in the specific market in question. Please be as specific as possible in your initial submission for a smoother process.
9. I would like to set up a local Disney Store – how do I go about doing that?
The Disney Stores are all owned and run by Disney. There is hence no opportunity for an external party to obtain franchise rights to set up a Disney Store in the Nordics.

If you have feedback on a purchased product, you should always turn to the store where you bought the product.
11. There is disturbance on my TV screen when I watch the Disney channels – where do I turn for assistance?
Disney and our local distributors share the responsibility for providing a high quality viewing experience. If you experience problems with your reception or with the content display, please specify what channel, show and time that you have experienced the issue as well as the name of your TV-distributor, and send the information to us at email@example.com You should also reach out to your TV-content provider with the same information.
